Adding locations (points of interest)

A location (POI) represents a precise place on the floor plan: a room, an office, an entrance, a service point, etc.

To add locations, click the "Edit" button in the canvas toolbar. The application displays your floor plan and, on its left, a side list of already-created locations — it is therefore empty at first:

1. Click "Add" then "a location".
2. A panel appears on the left, over the list, and several pieces of information are requested:

• a short name (25 characters maximum) — generally an office number or a code;
• a long name, optional;
• a location type (see the table below);
• a web link, optional — this field is always available, whichever type is chosen;
• the accessibility level, if needed;
• a photo, optional (JPG or PNG, 5 MB maximum).

The point's position is set by a simple click at the desired spot on the map. While the location is being edited, clicking the map redefines the point's position.

Confirm by clicking "Add" — the location immediately appears on the map (and becomes searchable, with some exceptions — see below). You can then close the panel.

tip

You can also enter the new location's information directly (generally the short name), click its position on the map, then click "Add".

Restrooms	No	Shown as an icon displayed at all times on the map; still used for route calculation.
Stairs	No	Enables level changes: all stairs sharing the same short name on different floor plans are considered connected (see Routing — Principles). The form shows, for information only, the other floors already served by this name — this is computed automatically by the application and cannot be entered or edited.
Elevator	No	Works on the same principle as stairs for level changes; the "Other floors" field there is likewise informational, automatically computed, and not editable.

Some technical types (Restrooms, Stairs, Elevator, Landmark) are deliberately excluded from search-by-name results, but are still used for route calculation. They are represented by an icon displayed at all times on the map.
